Impact Report on iDE’s Zambia Farm Business Advisor Program

Program activities
Zambia's Farm Business Advisor (FBA) program improves livelihoods via a corps of FBA entrepreneurs who connect farmers with inputs, markets, credit, services, and advice. iDE links FBAs with business partners and trains FBAs on business practices.

$100 increases the earnings of a smallholder farming family in Zambia by $500.

iDE conducted a quasi-experimental difference-in-difference study to estimate impact.

Data source
Sample-based data collection of both treated and control smallholder-farming households where crop production, expenditure, and agricultural practices data is collected. Data is combined with project sales/transaction data housed on Salesforce.

Attribution method
As part of our income survey approach, we used a statistically-powered ‘difference in difference’ design to establish the attributable income change of the program on participants over and above the non-program participants.

This report was created by iDE with self-reported data using ImpactMatters' impact reporting platform. This report covers May 2014 to June 2016.
